February 22, 2005 - Quats versus H202 Type Disinfectant Cleaners

• QAC out performed AHP/SHP in efficacy
• To get similar results in microbial efficacy and kill times, the AHP needed to use stronger dilutions than QAC
• Costs per useable dilutions for equal efficacy and kill times are higher for AHP than QAC
• QAC provided better cleaning than AHP/SHP
• AHP/SHP is corrosive to metals
• Regarding environmental impact of QAC and AHP/SHP, both are biodegradable. Therefore you need to consider their respective builders, surfactants, etc.
